WORKERS IN CROSS-BORDER AREAS
legal basis: Articles 52, guideline CIRCULAR -SDG-461-2007, from 12 March of 2007
1. Workers in cross-border areas are persons from Nicaragua or Panama who originate from the countries bordering Costa Rica and have a permission from the Ministry to enter and/or leave the country daily in order to pursue an occupation.

2. The Ministry of Labor and Social Security determines the number of workers, that can receive such a residence permit as well as the kind of the occupation which they are allowed to pursue.

3. The employer must submit the request to the Ministry; it should contain
the following data of the foreigner:

" Complete name
" Date of birth
" Name and nationality of parents
" Occupation which is to be pursued
" Copy of the identity card of the foreigner
" Proof of finger prints of the Ministry of Labor and Public Security
